Uncover Flawless Skin With Fraxel

When you look in the mirror, does the face you see reflect how old you feel? Most people would respond, no. In fact, many seeking Fraxel Dual in NYC report that what they see in the mirror is not a reflection of the fact that they feel like they’re in their 30s, but look older. We all want to look as young as we feel, and Fraxel Dual can help us reclaim the youthful glow, and confidence we all seek.

If you are looking for a way to improve the quality and health of your skin quickly, Fraxel Dual, performed at Skin Bar NYC may be the solution you have been looking for.

Fraxel Dual is one of the most sought-after cosmetic treatments in New York City. Its versatility is unmatched in the industry, and with over a decade on the market and millions of treatments performed, Fraxel is considered the gold standard for skin rejuvenation.

Fraxel Dual works to improve these conditions:

  • Sun damage
  • Pigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars and surgical scars

For over a decade, Skin Bar NYC has performed thousands of safe and effective Fraxel treatments in our Midtown Manhattan skincare clinic. We are experts in Fraxel Dual laser treatments. In fact, we even developed our own unique Fraxel treatment, Fraxel Refresh, designed specifically for clients who can’t afford any social downtime.

What is Fraxel Dual?

It’s a revolutionary dual laser technology that combines two lasers in one – the Thulium laser (1927 wavelength) for precise surface targeting and the erbium laser (1550 wavelength) for deep skin layers. This unique combination allows for effective correction of surface damage, pigmentation, and collagen remodeling in a single treatment. Unlike numerous copycat ‘Fractional’ lasers in the market, the original Fraxel Dual stands out for its safety, results, and predictability. When seeking Fraxel treatment, ensure you choose the authentic Fraxel Dual for optimal results and value.

What Does Fraxel Dual Do?

That depends on your goals. If you worshiped the sun as a teenager and slathered your face and body with tanning oil (you know who you are), then you probably look in the mirror and see uneven skin tone, brown spots, a sandpapery texture, and large pores. If this sounds like you, then you want to be treated with the 1927 wavelength laser. It is without a question the best laser for erasing sun damage. The 1927 laser works on the more surface layers of the skin and literally blasts away the damage with tiny controlled columns of burns. (Use a photo of treated laser paper on the 1927 setting.)

If your goal is to erase fine lines and soften wrinkles and furrows, then the 1550 wavelength laser is the right choice for you. This laser has the ability to penetrate to the deeper layers of the dermis. This layer is where the heat and damage produced during the treatment allow for collagen remodeling by awakening the body’s natural process of collagen production. The 1550 erbium laser in Fraxel Dual is also very effective at treating acne scars that have left the skin with deep and narrow depressions.

How does Fraxel work?

Simply put, Fraxel Dual is a laser skin resurfacing device. Its laser energy stimulates the body’s natural repair process that has slowed down over time or was exposed to severe trauma that the body could not correct by itself. After the laser energy is applied to the treatment area, the results are propagated entirely by your body through a natural process called the healing cascade.

Fraxel, or fractional laser resurfacing, works by laying down microscopic burn columns surrounded by unharmed tissue that allows for speedy recovery and little to no downtime.

How is Fraxel Dual performed?

Fraxel Dual can be performed on many areas of the face and neck, but the most common treatment areas are the face and neck. When you hear the term ‘area,’ this usually means a single treatment area, typically considered the surface size of a standard sheet of paper (8.5×11).

Fraxel treatment begins with a consultation and pre-treatment photos to establish a baseline for your goals and post-treatment results. This step usually takes 30 minutes.

The next step is treatment preparation, involving numbing the treatment area to make the procedure more comfortable. This step usually takes 45 minutes to an hour.

Now, we are ready to treat. Based on your goals, your skincare expert will select the correct laser for your treatment, determining the treatment coverage and level of power.

Your Fraxel Dual treatment involves 8 passes with the handpiece broken into 4 quadrants or areas to ensure the correct uniformity of your treatment. This process takes 30 minutes, and you’re done!

Does Fraxel Dual hurt?

Most clients who do not elect to have Fraxel Dual have one thing in common: fear! Fear of lasers, fear of the associated risks, fear about the recovery, and fear of pain.

While Fraxel Dual doesn’t tickle, it’s very manageable. That’s because of the comfort system we have designed at Skin Bar NYC. This starts with the numbing process described above. During the treatment, we use a device that blows -30 degrees cold air directly onto the treated area. This reduces heat buildup while adding a significant additional level of comfort and relaxation.

That said, Fraxel Dual involves 8 passes. The first 4-6 are pretty easy to sit through; however, as the heat builds up with each pass, so does the intensity. By the last 2 passes, you are ready for the treatment to end. At Skin Bar NYC, we have had clients experience the treatment as a 7 out of 10 for discomfort. Most call it a 5 out of 10. However, everyone is different, so while the intensity level varies from person to person, we’ve never had a client or member say they wouldn’t do it again because of the pain. That is anecdotal, of course, but it’s also based on 10 years of experience and over 10,000 safe and successful Fraxels performed.

What is Fraxel Dual recovery like?

Immediately after the treatment, the treated area is going to feel very similar to a sunburn with some tightness, redness (more redness for lighter-skinned clients), and some puffiness or swelling. This lasts for several hours after the treatment. We recommend going straight home after the Fraxel Dual treatment and relaxing. An hour or so after the treatment, the numbing effect will have mostly worn off, so the treatment area might be a little more sensitive but usually not much different than right after the treatment. Using ice packs helps offer temporary relief.

Most of the sunburn sensation will resolve by the time you go to bed or following morning. We recommend people sleep with their heads slightly elevated and use a post-recovery cream like Sheald.

What are the risks of Fraxel Dual?

The primary concern for any provider of Fraxel Dual is post-treatment hyperpigmentation. I have read many articles online that mention redness, crusting, and swelling. While these occur for almost everyone undergoing Fraxel, they are not side effects; they are simply a normal part of the healing process.

Let’s get back to hyperpigmentation. If you are not properly prepared before having Fraxel Dual, including limiting sun exposure, stopping the use of products with active ingredients and antibiotics, then hyperpigmentation can occur. And if it does, it is a very long process to correct. This involves allowing the pigmentation to settle, followed by a series of peels—a process that can take a year to correct.

So, how do we avoid hyperpigmentation and Fraxel Dual? Firstly, client selection matters. Darker-skinned clients have a higher propensity to experience post-Fraxel Pigmentation. That’s because darker-skinned clients have more melanocytes, and laser energy can make them overactive. Overactive melanocytes can turn into pigmentation. While Fraxel Dual has been cleared for the treatment of all skin types, including dark skin, Skin Bar NYC does not perform Dual on dark-skinned clients because of the heightened risk profile.

Sun exposure before and after Fraxel is also a significant factor in avoiding pigmentation. You should be out of the sun for at least 2 weeks before Fraxel and 2 weeks after Fraxel. If you are considering having Fraxel, we recommend that you start applying sunscreen today and avoid the sun as much as possible.

In addition to sun exposure, make sure that you have not taken any topical or oral antibiotics 2 weeks before the Fraxel laser. And stop using any skincare products with active ingredients.

Who is a good candidate for Fraxel Dual?

If you are concerned about fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, pigmentation, texture, and scarring from acne, then you’re probably a good candidate for Fraxel Dual. Fraxel Dual is a predictable and effective tool for reversing the signs of aging and effectively resurfacing the skin from old damage caused by years of acne and breakouts.

Because Fraxel is so predictable at treating these conditions, it has become one of the most popular cosmetic treatments performed in NYC and elsewhere.”
